My landscapes celebrate the beauty, power and unpredictability of nature. My aim is to create a type of familiarity or emotional connection with each scene even if they only exist on my canvass. My process isn’t straight forward and through playful techniques and experimentation these landscapes emerge into reality.

Listen in the Valley

These small works are meditations on familiar metaphors. In life, we spend much of our time in the metaphorical “valley” and while some might consider this idea the reflection of a low point, the valley is a place where we take shelter. The valley is spiritually nourishing, a place of peace, where hard work and preparation is done, where rest can be taken in and reflection and contemplation awarded before the next leg of our great journey. In getting to the top of a peak we are rewarded by a view of the valley below and we remember the journey and work that got us there.
